Imovie is it for Idumbies?

The answer is YES, yes yes yes!! Imovie is a great tool for those technologically challenged! I myself am not very smooth when it comes to working with video, files, audio, and combing all three! So when I saw that my next assignment was to create a video using the same tools that Disney has used, I was swallowed in a wave of anxiety! Yet you will all be relieved to find out that Imovie is wonderful and not difficult! I created a little get to know me video for my future students with pictures, video, and audio!! Can you say what! It was so easy and looks so professional that I've started making Imovies of events in my personal life. For example I had the wonderful blessing of owning two ducklings! Through Imovie I was able to compile all the video and photos I had collected and putting them together with some wonderful background music! Now whenever I miss seeing their bright yellow feathers and their duckling chirp I just pull up my memoir of Ellie and Benji!
It's so easy that I'm already thinking of video projects that I can create with my students. Making videos around thanksgiving about what they are thankful for, a video of them reading throughout the year, a video of their own choosing! The possibilities are endless! If you haven't already gone and tried to use imovie do it right now! I can't wait to create lessons for my kids to watch with silly videos of Ms. Espy that kids wouldn't be able to see in a classroom setting. For example if we are learning about weather having videos of Ms. Espy playing in rain puddles or getting muddy. I think its important for students to view as a fellow learner and to be comfortable around their teacher. Creating these real moments and casual interactions but still in a professional setting will allow my students to trust and accept me.
When I first started working with Imovie I wasn't very good. Yet, it only took me a few hours until I was able to clip segments, insert video clips, and add audio. Now I feel much more comfortable opening up the application and starting a new project. When I first started it would take me hours just to make one segment. Now after the project I can spit out a whole short one minute video in an hour! Its great to watch yourself grow in your technological knowledge. It helps to keep me motivated to keep learning and trying new resources.

Here go and check out my video for yourself!!
You are not an Idumbie!
Ms. Espy
